Venue Finding Services Porto

Porto is a coastal city in northwest Portugal known for its stately bridges and port wine production. In the medieval Ribeira (riverside) district, narrow cobbled streets wind past merchants’ houses and cafes. São Francisco Church is known for its lavish baroque interior with ornate gilded carvings. The palatial 19th century Palácio de Bolsa, formerly a stock market, was built to impress potential European investors.

Porto has got some fantastic hotels including Eurostars, Novotel, Mercure, Intercontinental, NH Collection, Crowne Plaza and Pestana. The Sheraton Porto Hotel & Spa is a wonderful hotel in the business district. With 266 beds, 24 meeting rooms (the largest can accommodate 850 delegates theatre style) and a spa, it’s a popular hotel.

For a very large meeting; the Alfandega Congress Centre is perfect. It’s 36,000m2, 22 multifunctional spaces. It can accommodate up to 3,000 delegates or 1,700 for a banquet. It’s in a great location in the city centre right next to the Douro River.

For something a little different, and very cultural, how about The Serralves Foundation. A cultural institution that harbours a contemporary vision of Art and the Landscape. Founded over 20 years ago, it’s one of Portugal’s leading cultural institutions and is the most important in Northern Portugal.

Serralves’ architectural and landscape heritage, now classified as a National Monument, offers the ideal venue for your event. The Foundation’s spaces have unique characteristics, blending nature with a contemporary outlook and incorporating unique and versatile environments, suitable for a variety of events. The auditorium can seat 600 delegates.

Getting around Porto, well there is one thing to remember, it’s hilly! Fascinating and beautiful, but be prepared for some steep slopes and steps! Maps don’t always show where these sneaky inclines are, so your sightseeing route could easily involve an unexpected workout!! Public transport is inexpensive, clean and efficient in Porto. If you are making multiple journeys, save time and cash by investing in a 24hr pass, which covers the entire network except for trams. Porto has buses, metro, and the restored Funicular dos Guindais which shuttles up and down a steep incline with tremendous river and bluff views.
