Newcastle upon Tyne, or simply Newcastle as it’s most commonly referred to, is one of the most iconic cities in Britain. Famous for its industrial heritage, Newcastle Brown Ale, nightlife and the distinct regional ‘Geordie’ dialect.

Located in the North East of England on the banks of the River Tyne, the city began life as a Roman fort on Hadrian’s Wall in 122AD.

As you would expect from a city like Newcastle, there are a lot of the big name brands here from Crowne Plaza and Hampton by Hilton to Malmaison, Jurys Inn, Holiday Inn and Doubletree by Hilton. The Crowne Plaza’s largest room can accommodate up to 400 people, and has nine meeting rooms. With 251 bedrooms, it’s a great choice for medium sized events.

If you’re looking for grandeur, how about Matfen Hall, set in 300 acres of parkland– completely rebuilt between 1832 and 1836, it was home to the Blackett family. In its history its been a family home, a residential home for the disabled and in 1999 it opened as a hotel following four years of refurbishment. It originally opened with 31 bedrooms which was increased to 53 in 2004, when the Aqua Spa and leisure facilities were created. It’s owned and operated by Sir Hugh Blackett, the 12th Baronet, and his wife Anna. The Great Hall can accommodate up to 120 guests theatre style.

Or for something a little different; you can hire the Planetarium at the International Centre for Life in Times Square Newcastle. Ideal for breakfast meetings or evening hire but also available for all day private hire – the planetarium has a 360º digital domed overhead screen and some of the most sophisticated technology available.
