Venue Finding Services Stratford upon Avon

Stratford-upon-Avon is a medieval market town in the West Midlands, on the banks of the river Avon, with more than 800 years of history. Shakespeare fans can walk in the bard’s footsteps; visit the timbered home where he was born, explore the house where he courted his wife at Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and visit his final resting place at the Holy Trinity Church.

Not quite so many of the big names in Stratford upon Avon, but not surprising as it’s a small town. That said, there is a Crowne Plaza, two Macdonald hotels, Doubletree by Hilton, Mercure, Hotel du Vin and a Q Hotel. The Macdonald Swan’s Nest hotel is the smaller of the two Macdonald Hotels, with 72 bedrooms. The Macdonald Alveston Manor two minutes walk from the Swan’s Nest hotel has 113 bedrooms and a number of smaller meeting rooms, the largest of which can accommodate up to 150 delegates in a theatre style. The hotel also has fabulous leisure facilities, including an 18 metre indoor swimming pool, a state of the art gym and a spa offering a variety of treatments.

Carrying on the Shakespeare theme – the Royal Shakespeare Company have a number of venues within Stratford which are available for meeting hire. From 1400 guests in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, to 200 in the Backstage Trust in The Other Place.

For something a little different, how about the Riverside, an iconic architectural structure overlooking the River Avon, just a mile from the town centre. A unique building able to accommodate up to 160 guests – with outdoor space too for team building.

Walking really is the best way of getting around and exploring Stratford upon Avon. Or hire a bike? Or there is a good bus service to get you about.

  • Famous for being the birthplace of William Shakespeare
  • Must see: Shakespeare's birthplace, Anne Hathaway's cottage, the canal basin and the Holy Trinity Church
